Department of Transportation officials say bridge construction has shut down part of State Route 112 south of Toomsboro.

According to the press release the bridge was closed at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning “and will remain shut down for 270 days.”

An off-site detour for thru-traffic has been set up to provide, “the most efficient delivery time for the $5.637 million contract rebuilding the State Route 112 structure and roadway approaches with plans for a modern, longer and wider bridge.”

GDOT says that local traffic will be granted access in order to get to their property. The construction affects a 0.77-mile area.

The agency says Gregory Bridge is the contractor for the project. They anticipate completion by December 2022.
